Our Philosophy on Travel...

E4 Travel was born out of a grassroots initiative to promote responsible tourism throughout Costa Rica. We believe that tourism, whether it is designated as eco friendly, sustainable, or responsible, should first ensure equal benefits for all parties involved, tourists and hosts alike. Secondly, we feel that tourism should constantly work towards improving the way of life for hosts and should never operate at the expense of an individual's well being or access to educational and economic opportunity. Third, we recognize the importance of the environment, not just for scientists and tourists, but also for the people who call Costa Rica their home.

E4 Travel takes a unique approach to travel and tourism in Costa Rica. Our goal is to increase awareness for alternative forms of tourism and incorporate them into standard tourism practices to create a healthy and responsible balance between community and corporation based tourism. Often times these alternative tourism practices differ only in the location and the amount of English that is spoken in a particular region, town, or village. Differences are also recognized in the amount of exposure that smaller, grassroots organizations have access to as a result of the economics of a rapidly growing tourism industry. E4 Travel works to bridge this economic gap and break barriers of communication with travel initiatives that can be incorporated on many levels into any E4 trip or vacation.
