Located south of Limon, the major port city of the Caribbean Coast, are Puerto Viejo, Cahuita, and Manzanillo followed by smaller beach towns as the border with Panama approaches. All three towns offer a variety of options for travelers including cultural events, great food, and of course plenty of ecotourism. There are a number of established and developing indigenous communities able to pursue community based ecotourism efforts and find success, due to the absence of market dominance by commercial, or mainstream tourism in this area.
