Costa Rica Expands Phone Numbers

Having trouble dialing international or locally in Costa Rica? In case you missed the news or don't understand the recording, last week Costa Rica expanded their telecommunications to add more numbers to the system. As a result, you must now dial a 2 before residence and business numbers, and 8 before cell phone numbers.

An example: old number - 506-555-5555 (residence/business)

                 new number - 506-2-555-5555

Remember to dial an 8 in place of the 2 for cell phones.

When dialing internationally: +011 506 2 555-5555
