La Escuela Hacienda Jaco

This small school is located in the booming beach town of Jaco, directly behind the new Sonesta Jaco Resort on the main road entering town. The school is a daily meeting place for 54 students, kindergarten through 6th grade, many of whom come from lower income households.

With the rapid growth and development in Jaco, E4 Initiatives has grown concerned with the future of children with respect to their access to opportunity through education. In 5-10 years many envision Jaco as a tourism hub on the central pacific coast, flooded with employment; employment requiring a mastery of English as a second language. Creating jobs is excellent for the local economy as long as we provide opportunities for youth today to excel in those employment positions tomorrow.

For this reason E4 Initiatives is committed to improving the academic environment at La Hacienda, making it a place where students can take advantage of the excellent level of education provided by the teaching staff, without the distractions of security, nourishment, and lack of resources that currently exist. E4 has taken the time to speak with faculty and observe daily activities at the school in an effort to develop a working set of goals and objectives that address the long and short term needs of the school.

This plan includes a list of mini projects, each contributing to the overall goal of improving the environment for learning at the school. For each project our initial efforts include support through funding and volunteers provided through our donation policy and Travel Initiatives respectively. We also keep the local community informed of our projects, seeking support when it is available.

We are excited about this project at La Hacienda. E4 has identified numerous individuals in the past who have expressed interest in or have taken the initiative to help the faculty and students of the school. The school was lacking a coordinated effort to channel resources to effectively address the needs of the school.

E4 currently provides opportunity for individuals and organizations to participate in this program through volunteerism, donations of time, materials, and finances to current and future projects. We work to address specific needs and stress the importance of donations with direction. We believe that each donation of time, money, or materials be accompanied with an opportunity to see the contribution at work. With coordinated visits to the school and follow up newsletters, E4 keeps contributors in touch with the people and futures they are generously investing in.

If you would like any information regarding the school, current projects, planning a visit, volunteering, or making a donation please contact an E4 Representative today or follow the links below. We are in daily contact with the school and can provide up to date information on current needs, daily scheduling, and special events.
