Sustainable Vacations featuring Montezuma: Sustainable Spring Break 08, Beach Bum (self-guided)
Check out this Video from Montezuma & Turtle Island!

A hike through the rainforest along the river brings you to this majestic set of three waterfalls. Climb the well marked path up and around to the top if you want to jump the falls. The second waterfall (middle) is for jumping. Do not attempt to jump the final waterfall! The smaller waterfall at the very top has a big natural pool and rope swing! Be careful and jump at your own risk.
Bring your bathing suite and sunscreen for a day at the beach. Depart from Montezuma for a scenic 30 minute boat ride to this beautiful island with white sand beaches and clear blue waters. Enjoy snorkeling before a delicious tropical bar-b-q lunch. After lunch sea kayaks, jet skis, swimming, and sun bathing await. Pretty much everyone with a boat in Montezuma offers this tour. E4 books with and recommends ZumaTours.
Cabuya is a small village is located 9km south of Montezuma. Check out the town cemetery accessible only at low tide. If you're brave enough to camp here for the night....let us know how it went.
2km down the road is Cabo Blanco Wildlife Reserve. Costa Rica's first protected wildlerness area. Here you can see monkeys, squirrels, sloths, deer, agoutis, and raccoons. The park is closed on Monday and Tuesday to minimize enivronmental impact.
Mal Pais & Santa Teresa are a little farther up along the coast. This one set of breaks surfers will not want to miss out on.
This is our top choice in Montezuma. The hotel is composed of a main building with charming rooms with private or shared bath for 2-4. Behind the main building are charming bungalows for 2-3. The pool has a Jacuzzi and spectacular ocean view. On site pavilion holds daily yoga lessons. The beach is right across the street. Large rocking chairs in front of each room are a nice touch.
