It is clear that education, ecology, and the state of local economies work together and contribute to Costa Rica's current model of Tourism. When the parts making up this model can be identified as responsible mechanisms of tourism, we are then dealing with ecotourism. This tourism is responsible and sustainable in nature meaning that it accounts for responsible practices related to the future of our youth, protection of natural resources, and the fragile economics of tourism communities.
E4 Travel is committed to studying the socio economic conditions of small communities and the effect that the growth of tourism has on their future. There are many opportunities for rural communities that once flourished under an agriculture based economy to re establish economic stability and sustainability through ecotourism. E4 Travel Initiatives provide aid and assistance to these communities, working with them to organize and implement their own model of responsible ecotourism.
This model effectively creates jobs, promotes local conservation efforts, and provides direct funding for the community to invest in improvements to their local schools. As this model is replicated it may serve to address the needs of education, conservation, economics, and ecotourism to improve the quality of life for visitors and residents in local communities throughout Costa Rica targeted for tourism development.
Looking at the big picture, E4 believes that a successful model of responsible, sustainable ecotourism is dependent upon the cornerstones of education, ecology, and the state of the economy as stated earlier. Once this model is established, working, and proven to be successful, it will be ecotourism that strengthens its own foundation, directing resources where they are needed most to keep the model self sustainable.
