E4 is interested in local tourism economies and ways in which small and large businesses alike residing within can find economic success. We are also focused on the common worker and his/her relation to the tourism economy whether it be through employment, property rental, daily/monthly living expenses, etc. We believe that a strong and healthy tourism economy is necessary to provide basic services such as clean water, paved roads, and pollution free beaches for local communities.
E4 is focused on communities like Jaco, where development has taken root in the form of hotels, luxury condo projects, and tourism infrastructure, but residents remain without basic needs due to a lack of responsible principles of economics and investment. E4 wants to ensure that development is sustainable, protecting and nurturing respective local tourism economies throughout Costa Rica.
With the growth in technology and the ability for merchants to offer their products and services to the world, E4 is focused on helping and assisting local communities make themselves known. Being stationed in Costa Rica gives us the opportunity to see the wealth of products that are available, but never discovered because few people know they exist. It is our goal to continue to offer internet advertising and web design at affordable prices. We reserve the right to offer these services on a case by case basis as to allow equal opportunities for businesses, both small and large, to have some voice in the tourism advertising market.
In many cases E4 will offer free basic web design and advertising in exchange for committed donations from local businesses directed towards projects and programs in their respective communities. In this way, E4 is providing services that will advertise and provide exposure for companies that are truly making a difference here in Costa Rica.
Groups traveling with E4 may also sponsor a local youth from a small tourism community, who is then able to travel with the group as a guide in training for observation and hands on experience with the tourism industry. We hope that this effort will help expose and prepare youth to responsible tourism practices at an early age. E4 also provides opportunities for travelers to participate in community based/rural ecotourism, one of the most effective ways to directly support local communities offering quality tourism services.
Community based ecotourism has been recognized by Costa Rica's Board of Tourism as an urgent situation that needs attention, assistance, and development. E4 also recognizes its importance in strengthening small tourism economies. We believe that grassroots organizations like EcoSur, working towards their own model of responsible tourism (see El Sur), hold the key to not only the future of responsible tourism, but also sustainable tourism. Sustainability entails that the people, their culture, and their natural resources are maintained, conserved, enhanced and protected through responsible tourism practices.
The principles and practices behind E4 Real Estate may provide the best example of our efforts towards this economic initiative. In the past real estate has fallen victim to abusive practices leaving people in less than ideal financial situations and looking towards the future for their children and grandchildren with less to provide than what was due to them. As a result E4 Real Estate is first and foremost committed to integrity. We're looking for buyers and sellers who will come together for sales that are in the best interest of individuals, their family, as well as the community where the property is located.
In terms of dollars and cents, E4 Initiatives donates 15% of all real estate commissions, 10% of advertising profits, 7% of luxury travel profit and 5% of standard travel profits directly to an E4 project or program that we are currently supporting or sponsoring.
